Audio/Visual works has captured my attention since childhood. I used to edit screencaptures from the games I played, combining them with various music tracks or meme-like sounds. The impact of creating new narratives by merging sound and visuals, and the ability to combine unrelated raw materials into a cohesive structure, offers a repeatable narrative possibility in different contexts for existing materials.

Before this project, I worked on various audio/visual projects in different contexts and mediums throughout university. In my 2nd year, I created a one-minute promotional video using After Effects. The only thing I knew about what I would do by the end of the project was that I needed music for the video. I first decided on the music and spent a few days listening to it while imagining the movements of the visuals I would edit in After Effects. When I finally sat down at the computer, it took me 6-7 hours to complete the video, thanks to the motivation I had.

A year later, in my 3rd year, I planned to shoot a sarcastic short film about feelings of selfishness and jealousy. While listening to a song by a friend that I loved, the concept of the video started to take shape in my mind. After listening to the song repeatedly for a few hours, 90% of the film's editing was already complete in my head. My friends and I completed the filming in 7 hours. When I sat down to edit, there were over 400 clips, but it didn't overwhelm me. I spent half a day sorting through the clips and finished the editing by the evening.

In my final year, I had two different concepts in mind for my capstone project. The first was a documentary, and the second was a video album created with experimental sound designs. Due to various reasons throughout the year, I couldn't continue with these ideas. After some time, I looked back and noticed a pattern in my previous projects, which led me to decide to create a sound visualizer for my capstone project. It was a project I planned to do in Blender, but on the advice of a teacher, I discovered TouchDesigner. The process of assimilating the knowledge I acquired from TD often took a considerable amount of time. I had no experience with 3D, data processing, or sound design before. Although it was a challenging adaptation process, the possibilities offered by TD helped me decide on the medium for the project.

The project's relative attractiveness compared to other design projects and its ability to interest people who were not even related to the project or design, in general, provided extra motivation. Finding resources to learn TD was a more challenging process compared to traditional design tools. As a result, I hope to create an ARG site where I can share both my work and the journey I've gone through, providing a space where everyone can create projects and their own versions with any sound they want. It’s something I’m sure I will continue as a hobby in the future, but first, I need to buy a new computer...
